Oh my goodness friends, I'm not getting any younger. It's a sad state of affairs. One thing I came to notice this summer is that it doesn't take much for me to feel foggy or hungover after (very) casual drinking. Who am I that two-ish drinks would send me into headache central the next day?? It seemed like everyone else could hang and still be cool the next day. Internal conversations included ... Why am I so frail? Am I allergic to alcohol? Am I dying? ... Not to be dramatic or anything. AND I'm Irish, I told my dad about my problem and he was very perplexed. A two-drink hangover? Preposterous.
So after many grumpy mornings (needy kids didn't help), I decided to take a drinking pause. I started sleeping so soundly and waking up feeling tired (still) but less draggy. Sleep is the best! Then I started researching, is it beer? red wine? I gave each drink a go on different nights. As it turns out, I just have a low tolerance. So as of right now my motto is: one drink to take the edge off, two for special occasions, and three for vacation.
Turns out I'm still pretty weird and fun without much drinking (IMO). And getting older just means we know what we like. For me it's sleep.
What about you?
